SEE OUR 2024 DC TWEED RIDE DETAILS BELOW!
The 2024 DC Tweed Ride this Sunday will harken back to the original format of the DC Tweed Ride with a point to point route. Ninety percent of the ride takes place on a flat or gentle downhill grade! There are a few gentle climbs. We’ll roll through quiet neighborhoods streets, take in downtown DC via bike lanes and finish in Capitol Hill for late afternoon Jazz music and dancing featuring Fidgety Feet!
Our meet up is at 12PM at The Great Lawn at Reeds Park in Washington DC. Ride Begins at 1PM
Reeds Park is just over a mile from the Takoma Metro Station. (Google Route Link.) There’s a Whole Foods Market at Walter Reed just by the lawn (Great for pre-ride treats, coffee, garage parking & bathrooms)
Our route will end at Lincoln Park with live jazz performance as the sun sets. The park is just over a mile from Union Station. (Google Route Link)
The ten mile route will feature a rest stop at Grant circle, City Center Park and the East plaza of the U.S. Capitol Building.
For folks coming in from out of town, I suggest parking by Lincoln Park in the morning and riding over to Union Station to take the Red Line to the Takoma Metro Station (one mile from our start.) You'll be by your car at the end of the ride and won't exhaust yourself in the morning with cycling uphill to the starting point.
Our route is below but do check in here on Friday for any last minute route changes based on our Thursday morning test ride.
About D&Q
Dandies & Quaintrelles seemed to appear suddenly out of nowhere in 2009 with the launch of the first Tweed Ride set in the nation’s capital.
Over the years, the group's formal structure and official intentions have remained shrouded in mystery. The group leads bespoked cyclists through the streets twice a year.
Spring inspires a leisurely smile-filled parade of cyclists clad in Seersucker, breezy linens, and the like.
Every fall brings a day of a tweed-filled dreamscape of vintage bikes, tilted caps, fancy hosiery, and such.
